Max & Rosy is a South African dog food and treat brand built around a pretty simple idea: dogs deserve real food too.
We make simple, locally produced dog food and treats using ingredients you can actually recognise — without trying to make feeding your dog more complicated than it needs to be.
Take a look. Have a smell.
That usually explains it pretty quickly.
Our products are made to look and smell like actual food because they’re made from real ingredients. We focus on simple recipes, human-grade ingredients and local production rather than creating another mysterious brown dog product.
It means we use ingredients of a quality suitable for human food.
No, we’re not suggesting you steal your dog’s treats.
But technically, they might be eating better than some of us.
Because a long ingredient list doesn’t automatically mean a better product.
We prefer using ingredients that have a purpose and that customers can actually understand.
Less decoding labels. More knowing what you’re feeding your dog.
Yes. Proudly.
We produce locally and aim to source from South African farmers and suppliers wherever possible.
We believe making a good product should also mean supporting the people producing good ingredients around us.
Apart from supporting South African farmers and businesses, local sourcing helps us stay closer to the ingredients that go into our products.
For us, “local” isn't just something nice to print on a packet. It’s part of how Max & Rosy was built.
Pretty much exactly what the name says.
Honde Pap is our simple, easy-to-prepare dog food made for owners who want to feed their dogs real food without needing to become their personal chef every evening.
Add water, prepare it according to the instructions, and dinner is sorted.
We wanted to create the middle ground between raw feeding and kibble.
Something made with real ingredients and inspired by the nutritional benefits people look for in a raw-style diet, but with the added safety and convenience that comes from properly cooked food.
At the same time, it needed to be genuinely practical — easy to serve, easy to store and easy to take with you without needing a freezer or complicated meal prep.
That became Honde Pap: real food made simple.
Yes.
Honde Pap can be incorporated into your dog’s existing feeding routine, which can make it an easy way to introduce something different without completely changing everything overnight.
Whenever you're introducing a new food, we recommend doing it gradually.
Every dog is different.
Size matters, but so do age, activity level, metabolism and whatever else your dog gets up to when nobody is looking.
Use the feeding information provided with the product as your starting point and adjust according to your individual dog’s needs.
Treats are exactly that — treats.
They're great for training, rewards, bribery, apologies after bath time and convincing your dog that you're still their favourite person.
They should form part of a balanced overall diet rather than replacing your dog’s normal meals.
Yes.
Big dog, small dog, somewhere-in-the-middle dog — our treats can be enjoyed by different breeds and sizes.
Simply portion treats appropriately for your dog's size and chewing habits.
Slowly is usually best.
Dogs can have surprisingly opinionated stomachs.
When introducing any new food, gradually mix it into your dog’s existing diet over several days rather than changing everything at once.
Keep products properly sealed in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight.
Different products may have slightly different storage requirements once opened, so always follow the instructions provided on the packaging.
And preferably keep them somewhere your dog hasn't figured out how to open yet.
We deliver throughout South Africa.
Delivery costs and available shipping options will be shown during checkout based on your order and location.
Yes.
Max & Rosy is available through selected retailers, and we're continuing to grow our retail footprint across South Africa.
If your favourite pet shop doesn't stock us yet, you're completely welcome to bother them about it.
Politely, of course.
Max & Rosy isn't only about feeding dogs who already have homes.
We're working to help feed dogs in shelters and rescue organisations around South Africa through our feeding initiatives.
As the business grows, we want the number of dogs we're able to help to grow with it.
